Summer is not yet over. Almost everyone had looked forward to summer because it is definitely the perfect time for a vacation. It is not complete without hitting the beach or the pool. And summer is when we are exposed to the scorching heat of the sun and are prone to sunburns. Everybody hates sunburns. You wouldn't want to be one of those who have to recover from it. Two days ago during the celebration of the Philippine's Labor Day I hit the pool with my family and the next day, I went yet again but this time with my friends. So if you ask me, 'Did I get sunburned?' No I didn't. (Hurray!) As I have been very diligent in sunproofing my skin and so far it paid of. So how did I manage to do that? Simple. With the help of sunblocks and sunscreens. So now, I am going to share what I did to keep my face and body protected including the products I used and still using for the rest of the summah!
To begin with I use Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF40+++ for my face. I have 2 of these. one I got from Sample Room and the other from my Beauty and the Beach Glamour box subscription box. I love it because it is something specifically for the face. I am happy with it being lightweight, non-sticky, non-comedogenic, not greasy and easily absorbed. It also has anti-aging properties and is paraben-free. Now isn't that nice? It also didn't cause me breakouts. Now that is definitely nice.
Of course sunproofing my face wouln't be complete without protecting my lips, don't you think so? For my lips, I use OraLabs Essential Soothe & Shine SPF15 Lip Balm. It is vitamin enriched with silk extracts. It protected my lips from further chapping and drying. I recently purchased this and so far I am loving it.
For my body I use the Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF60 Sunscreen Lotion or the Banana Boat Baby Natural Reflect SPF50 Sunscreen Lotion.
BEACH DEFENSE™ is a specially formulated lotion designed to help protect against the toughest conditions of summer with 80-minute water resistance and high SPF protection. It also has a great-smelling scent and contains HELIOPLEX® technology to provide photostable UVA/UVB protection for your skin. It is lightweight, quick-absorbing, and oil-free. Available in SPF 30, SPF 60 and Kids SPF 60. Helps prevent sunburn.
I do like that it is waterproof and sweatproof. I love it as it is except for one thing. When it comes to reapplication, you have to wait for around 10-15 minutes after application before dipping in the water because the water washes it away. So when using this, you have to let the lotion set on your skin.
Banana Boat® Baby Natural Reflect™ Lotion SPF 50 provides protection against sunburn and long-term skin damage, because it is formulated with active ingredients sourced from 100% natural minerals.
-Active Ingredients Sourced from 100% Natural Minerals.
-Broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection
-Tear Free and Sting Free
-Paraben & PABA Free
-Oxybenzone-Free
This sunscreen is equally good and is safe to apply on the face.
Both worked perfectly nice, and for me their only significant difference is the SPF but both have enough SPF to keep my skin protected from skin damage. I loved that both are easily absorbed in the skin and is perfectly scented. One more thing that I would like to mention about why I love both of them is because they are products from established brands that have a good reputation in providing quality products for the skin.
Lastly I use Belo SunExpert Ultragentle Sheer Spray SPF50+++. It is sometimes bothersome for me that reapplication of sunscreen lotion requires you to have to wait for it to be fully absorbed. And sometimes it is hard to apply on hard to reach areas such as the back most especially when you don't have someone to do it for you. The ones in sprays are very helpful in that manner. This one is my best friend in reapplication. It is gentle on the skin and can also be used to the face. But don't just go spraying it directly to your face. Spray on your palms and then use your palms to apply it on your face. This spray is somewhat a little bit greasy but is a good thing because it is something that keeps the product not easily washed away by water. So you can immediately go straight in the water after application. Don't you just find it very convenient? I do. Just spray, rub or pat dry then jump in the water. Easy breazy. No more waiting. The only thing I do hate about this is the scent. I find the scent to be too strong. Aside from that, there is nothing to hate on this product.
By the way I got this one from my beauty box subscription Glamour Box (Beauty and The Beach). (Click here to know more on my Glamour Box Beauty and The Beach unboxing)

So first, I made sure to put on suncreens/sunblock atleast 30minutes before sun exposure and before dipping in the water. According to skincancer.org this allows the ingredients to bind to the skin therefore maximizing its SPF. And definitely you don't want your suncreen/sunblock melting away in the water because you are too excited to have a dip. I know you are excited to dip in the water, but be patient and wait. Next thing, always reapply. For me, I don't have to wait 2 hours to reapply. I reapply every chance I get. Yes you heard me right, 'every chance I get' mostly every 30 minutes to 1 hour after my last application. You might think I somewhat have a phobia with redness and sunburns. Maybe you are right because I just hate it when I have to wait months just to recover from the after effects of sunburns. Reapplication is a must and you must never ever ever ever forget that. Another thing to remember is that the higher the SPF, the better. Lastly and most impotant is that those suncreens and sunblocks would be nothing and is useless if it isn't waterproof or water resistant. Make sure to check on that before you hit check out.
To sum it up, the above products have been really effective and has served its purpose. They have been very helpful in keeping my skin protected from sun damage whether hitting the beach, the pool or just being under the sun.
